SALEM LUTHERAN SCHOOL AND OTHER SCHOOLS IS A REAL HIT!
WHAT IS “TUTORS WITH TAILS”?
We bring our friendly, socialized dogs into the school for a special reading session where the kids are given their own dog to read to. The kids love reading to the Certified Therapy Dogs – because the dogs don’t judge them or make fun of them if they make a mistake. And the kids are teaching the dogs by reading to them! So the kids relax and read with more confidence. UC Davis has done a study showing that reading and comprehension skills improved by as much as 30 percent in a similar program. Our “Tutors with Tails” program has become so popular that we now need more dogs! If you are interested in joining this fun and rewarding program please contact us for a FREE evaluation to see if your dog would make a good “Tutor with a Tail”.
A Letter From A Third Grade Teacher

Dear Tackett Service Dogs,
We have had so much fun being a part of the Tutors with Tails program. Tuesday has become the favorite day of the week for my students and 9:30 can’t come quickly enough. When the dogs arrive, even my most at-risk readers know exactly which four-legged friend they want to read to for the day. I also have a couple apathetic readers in my class who rarely know where their book is and spend much of reading time looking out the window–except on Tuesdays, when their book is right by their side just waiting for their turn to read to a furry friend. Third graders and Tutors with Tails has been a match made in heaven! Thanks so much for letting us be a part of your program!
